This beautiful room was salvaged from a derelict circa 1803 Federal house in Bellingham Massachusetts. We tried to move/save this house, but we were unable to do so due to circumstances out of our own control. However, being able to preserve the room in its entirety was an achievement. The name “Lt. Galloway” comes from my grandfather who was a Navy officer in WW2 and a lover of old houses. Enjoy the gorgeous denticulated cornice, paneled wainscot, Federal style mantle in this luxurious space. With views out to the courtyard below this room really shines in the southern light.

Step into history in the Captain Hills Suite, a spacious two-bedroom, one bath retreat located on the second and third floors of the Hills Galloway House (circa 1693). Featuring a king four-poster bed, a separate living room, and a private ensuite bathroom, this suite offers the perfect blend of historic character and modern comfort. Originally known as the Parlor Chamber, this was the principal bedroom of the household during the 1740s. Today, it still retains its remarkable original 18th-century woodwork and an exceptionally rare lampblack paint finish, offering guests a unique opportunity to experience authentic colonial craftsmanship. Attic lounge/queen bedroom/game room is included in this massive suite with original hand hewn rafters and central chimney.

The Hills Galloway House is one of the oldest surviving timber-framed homes in America and the OLDEST in Georgia. Built in 1693, it was carefully dismantled in East Hartford, Connecticut, and painstakingly reassembled in Savannah, preserving its historic fabric and allowing guests to experience an authentic piece of early colonial architecture unlike anywhere else.

Galloway, this room is a little less formal, showcasing simpler moldings yet still very refined. The Amsterdam Green linseed paint brings out the rich character of this room. With views out to the courtyard below this room shines in the southern light.
